Hi. We’re Vero and Alex. And before you ask, no, this isn’t a blog where I review moisturizers while Alex teaches you how to rebuild an airplane engine. Although… that would be a very specific niche. \ud83d\ude02 Alex is an aircraft mechanic, and, I, well honestly, haha this will sound so silly, but Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie since I was a lil kid, I’m talking I watched it weekly as a young girl and will play it in the background while working because its just so nostalgic, haha I promise, I’m not a Disney adult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When Alex and I were thinking of a duo name for us to, I jokingly added Beauty and the Mechanic to the list, knowing that there’s no way that it will get picked. Long story short, I come home from work and Alex goes, “Oh its all finalized, we are BEAUTY AND THE MECHANIC!” And that its how the name came to be. Trust me, I do not walk around thinking of myself as the Beauty of the family, cause that would be totally weird, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I will admit to this, in the last year or so, I started doing more than just using makeup removing wipes at the end of the night and rinsing my face with water in the morning and I’ve definitely seen a difference in the way my skin feels and looks. But thats a blog post for another time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So who are we? We are a husband and wife who have known eachother for almost 20 years, married for 14.5 years, we’re raising two girls (entering the scary teenager zone), and somewhere in the middle of regular life we both decided we wanted to start taking better care of ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That decision started in 2019 for me, when I found myself at my pregnancy weight, 2 years postpartum, ended up losing the weight (and more) while following the Optavia program, then life happened and within the next 5 years — while working SOOO hard to not gain weight and to maintain my weight — I found myself back in the 230 lbs territory (with more muscle definition this time around) Long story short, Alex also found himself back in the 300 lbs zone and honestly, we didn’t like it there. We were doing everything everyone told us to do, eat healthy, workout, drink water, sleep well, yet it wasn’t working, and when you do it all and see no result, it becomes discouraging. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This time around we changed some things. We started working out consistently and with a plan. We really changed how we ate. We started learning about GLPs, compounds and peptides. Alex was up doing his own research, whether it was peptides or recipes, or even skincare. And because we’re us, we have opinions about all of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That’s basically why Beauty & the Mechanic exists. This is where we’re sharing the things we’re trying, the stuff that actually stuck, products we’ve used long enough to have an opinion about, things we wasted money on, what we’re learning, and regular life in between. Think wellness, beauty, fitness, marriage, family, faith, travel, favorites, and the occasional “Alex, come here, you need to try this.” It’s also a known fact to writing it down, posting about it, and helping others is a great tool in accountability for ourselves. So, welcome to the chaos, I hope you stick around. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
